Congress passes stopgap funding measure; Oregon higher ed leaders urge Congress to avoid fiscal cliff


University of Oregon President Michael Gottfredson joined the Chancellor of the Oregon University System George Pernsteiner and the presidents of OUS’ six other campuses in signing a letterto Oregon’s congressional delegation urging them to do everything they can to avoid sequestration.

State revenue forecast released; no impact to budget


On August 29, members of the Oregon Legislature met to hear the Oregon Office of Economic Analysis’ quarterly revenue forecast. In a joint session of the Senate Finance and Revenue and the House Revenue committees, State Economist Mark McMullen released the Oregon Revenue Forecast and walked lawmakers though key projections.

Five UO projects prioritized in OUS budget proposal to Governor


As part of its 2012-13 budget proposal, the Oregon University System asked for a total of $341 million in state funding for capital projects and included a list of the top 21 priorities. The Governor will consider the OUS’s priorities for inclusion in his draft budget, which he will submit to the Legislature in December.

UO participates in Eugene Celebration Parade


University of Oregon students, faculty, and staff and their families took part in the Eugene Celebration Parade on August 25. Participants got up early on a Saturday morning and braved the parade crowds to wear yellow t-shirts, carry signs, and wave to the many spectators along the route.
