House panel votes to reauthorize Institute of Education Sciences


On April 8, the US House Committee on Education and the Workforce voted to send legislation to reauthorize the Education Science Reform Act (ESRA), H.R. 4366, to the full House. The House is scheduled to consider the legislation on May 7.

US House subcommittee moves NSF/NASA funding bill


On April 30, the US House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce Justice, Science, and Related Agencies passed its FY15 appropriations bill. The legislation includes $51.2 billion in funds for the Department of Commerce, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Science Foundation (NSF), and other related agencies.

An election year reminder


The primary election is May 20. Ballots must be received by your county’s elections office or deposited in a ballot drop by 8 pm on Tuesday, May 20. Postmarks do not count. The Oregon Secretary of State’s office has an interactive map with locations of official ballot drop boxes.

Students coordinate annual day of service in campus neighborhoods


On Saturday, April 19, 190 students and staff from the University of Oregon participated in the annual CommUniversity Days of Service, an event aimed to improve near-campus area neighborhoods and bring neighbors and students together with a shared activity. The day included planting trees, picking up trash and collecting food for the UO Student Food Pantry and Food for Lane County.
