Students coordinate annual day of service in campus neighborhoods

On Saturday, April 19, 190 students and staff from the University of Oregon participated in the annual CommUniversity Days of Service, an event aimed to improve near-campus area neighborhoods and bring neighbors and students together with a shared activity. The day included planting trees, picking up trash and collecting food for the UO Student Food Pantry and Food for Lane County. The annual service project was organized by the CommUniversity Program in the Office of the Dean of Students with help from the UO Office of Government and Community Relations, the UO Holden Center, and the UO student Alumni Association. It was a collaborative effort of the City of Eugene (Parks and Open Space, Neighborhood Services, City Manager’s Office), Friends of Trees, and near campus neighborhoods (West University neighborhoods and South University).
