Policy makers, community leaders, and industry representatives converged on the UO campus on February 16 to participate in the UO President’s Invitational and Science Odyssey. This annual event brings stakeholder groups to campus to learn more about the UO science programs, tour UO science facilities, and receive an update from campus leaders. Many participants also purchased tickets and attended the men’s civil war basketball game between UO and Oregon State University. Participants this year included state legislators, county commissioners and mayors from around the state, members of the Oregon Education Investment Board, community college presidents, and other public and private sector leaders.
The Science Odyssey, held in the Willamette Hall Atrium, included remarks by President Michael Gottfredson, Vice President for Research and Innovation Kimberly Andrews Espy, industry representatives, and interns from the Masters Industrial Internship Program. President Gottfredson and Mayor Kitty Piercy also offered remarks at a pregame reception in the Ford Alumni Center.
