Hans Bernard has been appointed as the Associate Vice President for State and Community Affairs at the University of Oregon. He joins the Office of Government and Community Relations where he is leading the university’s state and community relations programs. Hans brings more than a decade of experience in Oregon politics and public policy through roles that include serving as a legislative assistant and policy advisor to then Senate Majority Leader Kate Brown and the Senate Democratic Caucus, a senior policy advisor and deputy legislative director to Governor Ted Kulongoski, and vice president at a communications and public affairs firm. Most recently Hans worked with the Oregon Business Council lobbying the Oregon Legislature on higher education issues including strong support for Senate Bill 270 establishing the University of Oregon’s institutional governing board.
Hans began at the University of Oregon on Monday, November 4.
