Title IX comment period closes

Oregon university Title IX coordinators and university presidents joined  more than 100,000 others in submitting comments on the US Department of Education’s proposed regulation on Title IX and campus sexual misconduct, harassment and assault. The proposed rule would affect how universities respond to survivors and allegations of sexual harassment and sexual assault.

The Title IX coordinators letter and university presidents’ letter emphasized that the Department’s prescriptive approach is inconsistent with the universities’ mission and values.

Led by the American Council on Education, more than 60 higher education associations and alliances submitted a 33 page letter commenting on the regulation.

All comments are publicly available at the US Department of Education’s on-line portal.
