The University of Oregon along with the cities of Eugene and Springfield, Lane County, and the Eugene and Springfield Chambers of Commerce hosted a two day summit to discuss the community’s progress toward achieving regional economic development goals. The first day of the summit was held at the Ford Alumni Center, and focused on engaging the business and economic development community in taking stock of progress toward the goals outlined during the first Regional Prosperity Summit, which was held four years ago and resulted in a plan for the area. Panels focused on three strategic industry clusters: Edu-Tech (or education and technology), food production, and advanced manufacturing.
The second day of the summit was held in Springfield and served as a forum for federal and state officials to hear about developments in the local economy. Local news station KEZI covered the summit.
