State board to meet Friday to consider public safety, tuition

The Oregon State Board of Higher Education and its Finance and Administration and Academic Strategies Committees will hold meetings on June 20 and 21. In a public meeting on June 21, the board will consider information on student loan debt, achievement compacts recommendations, a proposal to arm University of Oregon Police Department sworn officers, tuition and fee changes for all seven OUS institutions, and presidential appointments and compensation. The Finance and Administration Committee will meet on June 20. Its agenda and docket includes a report on contracting and purchasing with historically underrepresented businesses, adoption of Optional Retirement Plan eighth amendment, proposed 2012-13 “Settle-Up” of operating budget allocations, an Internal Bank update, Climate Action Plan/Carbon Emissions update, and an update on the outcome-based budget project.

The Academic Strategies Committee will also meet on June 20 to discuss program approvals, credit for prior learning, and achievement compact targets. Its full agenda is on the State Board of Higher Education’s website.
