Policy Primer: Taskforce on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Success

What is the taskforce?

The STEM taskforce was created in HB 4056 during the 2012 session for the purpose of encouraging students to study science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It works in collaboration with other STEM efforts around the state including the Oregon STEM Employer Coalition.

Who serves on the taskforce?

State Representative Chris Harker (D-Washington County) is the Chair of the taskforce. State Senator Fred Girod (R-Stayton), State Senator Elizabeth Steiner Hayward (R-Portland), and State Representative Shawn Lindsay (R-Hillsboro) also serve on the taskforce. Members of the public include: William Becker, Deb Mumm-Hill, Eric Meslow, Todd Sanders, Carla Wade, Aubrey Clark, Jeri Janowsky, Brynn Livesay, Terrel Smith, Lisa Graham, Savannah Loberger, Sabah Randhawa, and Nancy Stueber.
