The deadline to register to vote in the November 6 election is October 16. To register or update your registration status because of an address change, go to https://secure.sos.state.or.us/orestar/vr/register.do?lang=eng.
More information about voting is also available at http://www.sos.state.or.us/elections/voterresources.html.
An individual must register any time his/her address changes. Re-registration is also necessary in order to update information including party affiliation.
Special note for those working with minors:Oregon allows registration at 17 years old in order to ensure that those turning 18 by an upcoming election are able to vote in that election.
For those new to voting in Oregon:All voting in Oregon is done through vote-by-mail. Ballots are mailed to registered voters, and voters can return ballots back either through mail or at designated ballot boxes. Ballots will be mailed to voters starting on October 19 (other than those mailed to absent electors). Postmarks don’t count. The ballot must be deposited in an official ballot collection box or returned to the county elections office no later than 8 pm of the election day.
