Election year reminder


The Oregon general election is November 4. Ballots must be received by your county’s elections office or deposited in a ballot drop by 8 pm on Tuesday, November 4. Postmarks do not count. The Oregon Secretary of State’s office has an interactive map with locations of official ballot drop boxes.

Higher education associations offer Senate Committee comments on Campus Accountability and Safety Act; White House launches campaign to end sexual assault on college campuses


On September 5, a broad array of national higher education organizations, led by the American Council on Education (ACE), sent a letter the leadership of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) with comments about the Campus Accountability and Safety Act (CASA).

Congress gives final approval to FY15 continuing resolution


On September 18, Congress gave final approval to the fiscal year 2015 (FY15) continuing resolution. The measure will sustain funding for federal programs through December 11, 2014 largely at their 2014 levels, or the current annual cap rate of $1.012 trillion, and includes an across-the-board cut of 0.0554% from FY14 levels.

Campus Neighborhood News, new university publication, builds neighbor relationships


The week of September 22, near campus neighbors received the first issue of the Campus Neighborhood News. This annual publication has been sent to every address in the Fairmount, South University, West University, Amazon, and south part of Harlow neighborhoods. The publication shares information about the university and its neighborhood livability efforts with neighbors.
