National social science advocacy resource now available

The University of Oregon has joined the Consortium of Social Science Associations (COSSA), a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that serves as a national voice for the social and behavioral sciences in federal policymaking. COSSA works with universities, research organizations, and scientific societies to advance social and behavioral science research and advocate for sustained federal investment in these fields.

As social, behavioral, and economic research programs have faced increased policy scrutiny and proposals to reduce or eliminate funding for certain areas of research, COSSA is a resource that provides timely analysis, advocacy resources, and updates on federal policy developments affecting the research community. To subscribe to member only updates, sign-up here. The Washington Update is available here.

UO's membership reflects the exceptional contributions of our faculty and researchers, whose work in the social, behavioral, and economic sciences addresses some of society's most pressing challenges. From understanding human behavior and improving public health outcomes to informing education, economic development, and public policy, social science research is a vital part of the university's research enterprise. COSSA members include universities, scientific and scholarly organizations, and professional associations. UO is a top recipient of federal research funding for the social and behavioral research.

Members of the University of Oregon community are encouraged to stay informed about these issues by subscribing to COSSA updates and policy newsletters using their UO email address. COSSA regularly provides information on federal research policy, funding developments, and opportunities for engagement with policymakers.
