The 2016 Oregon State Legislative Session convened on Monday, February 1. The session lasts for 35 days, ending in early March.
Thursday, February 11, hundreds of Oregon students, faculty, and alumni will meet in Salem for University Day at the Oregon Capitol. The day provides an opportunity for representatives from all public universities in Oregon to be advocates for higher education.
Last year, as a result of UO advocates’ efforts, Oregon’s funding for public universities increased for the first time in nearly a decade. The state faces significant budget gaps in the next biennium, and this day is an important opportunity for UO advocates to ask the Legislature to prioritize higher education and continue to make progress.
