Policy makers, community leaders, and industry representatives converged on the UO campus on February 16 to participate in the UO President’s Invitational and Science Odyssey. This annual event brings stakeholder groups to campus to learn more about the UO science programs, tour UO science facilities, and receive an update from campus leaders.

Higher education associations weigh in on proposed college rating system


A group of 26 higher education associations submitted comments on January 31 to the U.S. Department of Education regarding the President Obama’s proposed Postsecondary Institution Rating System (PIRS).

White House announces FY 2015 budget release dates


The White House announced in early February that it will release its FY2015 budget proposal in two installments. The first installment will come on March 4 and include top-line agency and program requests. The second and more important installment won’t be released until March 11, and will include the budget appendix and justifications behind the top line numbers.

Capital construction subcommittee receives testimony on higher education capital projects


On February 14, the Joint Ways and Means Subcommittee on Capital Construction held a public hearing on eight higher education capital construction projects currently under consideration by the legislature.
