March revenue forecast released

The March revenue forecast for Oregon was released on February 10. The state’s mix of industries and net migration flows helped Oregon outpace the nation on wage and job growth. However, declines in equity markets and corporate profits have led to a reduction in future revenue expectations.

2016 Oregon Legislative Session Update

February 24, 2016
The fourth week of session is underway and lawmakers are focused on wrapping up remaining policy bills and finalizing the budget.  The Legislature has until March 6 to conclude its business, but it is likely that adjournment will take place early next week.

Pres. Obama’s budget request to be released Feb 9

With FY16 finally in the process of being implemented after its passage in December 2015, the Administration is looking towards next year. The president’s FY17 budget proposal will be released February 9, 2016, a week after the statutory requirement.  Among expected proposals are expansions to the Pell Grant program as well as funding for the president’s “moonshot” goal to cure cancer.

The City Club of Eugene hosts UO President Schill as guest speaker

UO President Michael Schill was guest speaker at the February 5 City Club of Eugene meeting on “Academic Excellence, Student Access, and the Educational Experience at the UO.” President Schill outlined some of his primary goals for the university, and addressed the relationships and partnerships between the UO and the local community.
